Towards a Sustainable Festival
RECIF is gradually embracing an environmentally conscious approach by adopting simple, everyday actions. A charter, designed to evolve with each edition, outlines these commitments and invites both the team and the public to join in this collective effort.
In a Pacific region directly affected by climate change and pollution – rising sea levels, fragile lagoons, and biodiversity at risk – cinema becomes a powerful tool for raising awareness. RECIF’s programming highlights these issues, inspiring the creativity and reflection of many emerging and amateur filmmakers.
Beyond screenings, the festival and its tour will feature additional activities that explore our relationship with the environment, including educational initiatives carried out in partnership with the CPS (Communauté du Pacifique) to engage younger audiences, as well as this discussion :
Saturday, November 8 at 12:30 PM, Tjibaou Cultural Center
Do ecological issues influence Pacific literature and cinema?
To help guide the audience, all films and activities addressing these themes are marked with the festival’s “Green” badge.
RECIF is supported by the New Caledonia Film Festival Association, founded in March 2024.
