Because the cinephiles of tomorrow are today’s spectators, RECIF aims to engage young people in this cinematic adventure.

Through various initiatives, both during and outside school hours, we invite young audiences to develop their critical perspective on a Caledonian film and to express themselves by creating a short fiction film.

Imagining a script, telling a story through images, setting its rhythm with editing, incorporating personal sensitivity and perspective – this is the experience we offer them.

Are you over 13 years old and want to learn how to make a short fiction film (under 3 minutes) within a limited time ?

Join one of the workshops offered in Noumea, co-led by two professionals: Rémi Péreira de Carvalho and Hélène Singer.

      From Lush Forest to Deforestation: Sensitive and Civic Perspectives

      While remaining true to its editorial focus on emerging cinema—namely first and second feature films, RECIF offers schools a thematic film program centered on the tropical rainforest, its richness, and the threats it faces.

      2026 Program:

      LA REVELATION DES TAROS & VANILLE, SAUVAGES and LA PROMESSE VERTE.
      Film presentations: https://www.recif.nc/fr/selections/#selection-jeune-public

      Dates and venues:
      RECIF is currently contacting several municipalities to organize school screenings of these three films. Schools will be informed once the dates are confirmed. Screenings are scheduled between July and October 2026 to allow time for educational work.

      Access:
      Free screenings. Each school is responsible for organizing and covering transportation costs.

      Screening format:
      Screenings will take place in a cinema, cultural center, or media library, depending on the municipality.

      • Age-appropriate introductions

      • Possibility of a discussion session or workshop after the screening (subject to availability)

      • Educational materials or discussion guidelines provided to teachers

      Through three films adapted to different age groups, this program aims to:

      • Raise students’ awareness of tropical forest biodiversity;

      • Develop a sensitive and emotional connection to nature among younger children;

      • Gradually support understanding of the human, economic, and political issues linked to deforestation;

      • Encourage media literacy, critical thinking, and civic reflection.

      The program is intentionally structured to move from wonder to awareness, and then toward critical analysis, ensuring pedagogical continuity from kindergarten through high school.

      These three proposals form a progressive pathway:

      • Kindergarten (older students) / Primary school: wonder and discovery of nature

      • Middle school: awareness, responsibility, collective choices

      • High school: critical analysis and civic engagement

      They align with the following curricula:

      • Education for Sustainable Development (ESD)

      • Arts and Cultural Education

      • Citizenship Education

      • Media Literacy
